1971 Honda SL70 #xx

VIN# SL70-102xxxx

Light Ruby Red

This Bike is Currently Under Restoration and Available For Sale

Specially designed stand to hold the SL70 frame for assembly

This frame is powdercoated in a silver that is very close in color and metallic content to the original SL70 frame.

Frame is held in place by the footpeg brackets allowing almost everything to be assembled on the bike with the exceptions of the pegs.

Rear Swingarm installed along with new shocks.  Battery box and selenium rectifier in place.

New Coil installed

The "Bullet".  SL70 engine completely disassembled and gone through

Preparation to install the frame

Back side of the ignition switch collar.  This is the only ground on the entire wiring harness.  If you don't grind all paint off, you will get bad results when trying to run lights and turning the ignition off

Engine in place.  Held by two large bolts and then two from the bottom

Powder coated air cleaner assembly with new reproduction air cleaner tube

SL70 K0 ignition switches are unique to this bike.  If it doesn't have a blue wire, it isn't a K0.

The SL70 wiring harness uses 3 plastic straps to secure it to the frame.  The long one on the top is no longer available and very hard to find.

This is a picture of the top fork collar that holds the steering stem in place.  On the left is an original SL70 K0 version, and the one on the right is the only one available new.

It is easier to tighten the handlebar mounts prior to putting the triple tree and forks on.  I pre assemble the handlebars to the mounts, turn it over and tighten the nuts while the handlebars keep the mounts in alignment

So far, so good.
