1979 Honda CBX #2

VIN# CB12008672

Non Factory Black

The king of the Honda Super Sport bikes.  This is a mild custom 1979, first year CBX.  This bike had more than 100 horsepower and was the only year produced before Honda de-tuned them for 1980 and then completely changed the bike in 1981 with fairing / bags.  This bike has a Corbin seat, low bars, rearsets, fork brace, Accel super coils and wires.  The body work has been repainted and shows some cracking and chipping.  The carbs were recently gone through to remove residue from years of sitting.  The tank is not rusty inside and it has nearly new tires.  The exhaust is a rare Bassani 6 into 1 unit and I have a quiet and a 'noisy' baffle.  Obviously you can tell that this bike has been apart at one point and the frame has been painted red.

Ever hear of the bike that was "All Engine"?.  This is the first year Honda CBX 6 Cylinder.  This is the Honda CBX 1050cc 103 hp rocket ship.  Hondas' marketing literature touted it in a couple of notable ways.

First...The engine is a stressed member of the frame.  There is no cradle underneath which exposes the full size of the engine.  The engine is tilted forward 30 degrees for more leg room.

Secondly, Honda claimed that by moving the alternator back behind the cylinders, that the engine is almost the same width as their CB750 engine. Anyway you look at it, the engine is the most prominent part of this bike and is very intimidating looking.
